01

Design Problem

Children aged 7-8 enter the second rebellious period, the child rebellious period. Children at this stage hope to express their own thoughts and opinions and be affirmed by others. They always want to try to get out of their parents' control and even deliberately fight them. Start pursuing your own independent space. Sometimes parents find their children emotionally unstable. Sometimes happy, sometimes angry. As soon as I got angry, I closed the door and stayed in the room alone. The center of their world is no longer their parents, but themselves. It is normal for children to have these conditions. But as a parent, it is both worrying and powerless.

Today, mobile phones are becoming more and more powerful. Some children are very young, but can also use cell phones very proficiently. This makes us think about whether we can use the powerful functions of mobile phones to help children and parents establish good communication and parent-child relationship. For parents, the appropriate use of cell phones by children also has some benefits. Facing the requirements of such a new era, designing an application for a closer parent-child relationship has become a new task for us.

Design Concept

My idea is to create a game between parents and children, to establish communication and interaction between parents and children in the way of completing educational games, so as to achieve the purpose of closer parent-child relationship. In this application, the core is actually the game. After referencing a lot of educational games for kids, I finally decided to develop a block based game. In the block puzzle game, games of finding colors and drawing shapes were developed using virtual reality technology.

During the process, parents can set up challenges and hand over the phone to their children to complete the challenge. During this process, the child's mood will affect the game and the interface of the watch. This allows parents to intuitively know how their child is feeling today. After the child completes the challenge, the parent can also set the challenge to achieve the purpose of interaction.

Design Elements

This App must allow children to feel the fun of the game and allow parents to understand their children's emotions. I thought of using weather cartoons as the expression of emotions and skills as the content of the game, which can also help parents understand the mood of their children through the weather cartoons. And my main element is graphics, so I developed eight cartoon forms representing eight moods based on the eight building block forms needed for the building block game.

Regarding the App, this is a building block game that can express the mood. Mood Block is a very direct name. In order to highlight the characteristics of its game, it was named M Block. In the design of the logo, I used the parts of the building block puzzle to form the text "M Block". There is also a form of love hidden in the upper and lower structures of M and Block, implying the existence of "mood". In the choice of colors, I chose seven different colors. Bright colors are also a manifestation of children's games.

Interface

Challenges set by parents

Go to bed early challenge will help people to better go to bed early in the way of punch card. Users can unlock the corresponding skin care product samples and discount rewards after completing the specified number of days to go to bed early. As a user, not only can you develop the habit of going to bed early, but you can also get free samples of skin care products. As a merchant, you can get real feedback from users after using skin care product samples.

Mood Choice by Kids

After the child accepts the challenge, the mood options will appear. The child's choice of mood will affect the UI style of the overall app.
The UI style in the app is divided into resident state and game state. In the permanent state, in order to highlight the feeling of the building block game, the overall color is biased towards the log color, that is, the building block style. After entering the game state, after the player completes the mood selection, the overall color will change to a color state that matches the mood.

It is worth mentioning that the mobile interface and watch interface will also change accordingly. The color theme corresponding to the mood is also to allow parents and users to understand the child's mood state most intuitively.

Gaming Process

Finding colors and shapes in connection with reality is a feature of the game. Children need to identify the colors they need to find in real life and collect them with the color picking tool in the app. After finding the desired color, the child can use the brush tool to draw the desired shape. This part can not only exercise children's ability to recognize colors, but also exercise children's drawing ability. After drawing the outline, the system will collect the generated building blocks of the corresponding shape. In the subsequent challenges, these building blocks will be of great use.

Frame 21.jpg

As a building block game, how to present the building effect of the building blocks is a problem I consider when I complete Protopie. After continuous attempts, I finally used the "area" as the condition, using the movable effect, to show the ideal game process effect as much as possible. When the angle or height of the brick meets the conditions, it will show the effect of adsorption. So as to realize the picture of building blocks. The time to build in this process is very important. At the same time, I set the transparency transform to make the whole process look smooth.

Interaction

Through the watch, you can see the status of the challenge. In the process of the challenge, parents can encourage their children by liking. And this praise will always accompany the child to complete the game. In Protopie, the special effects of likes are also presented. Further attract the attention of the child.
